Sale Objectives:
* Demonstrate the improvement and quality of Hereford Cattle in Kentucky and the surrounding areas
* A consistent outlet for breeders of quality Hereford cattle where their cattle can be grouped in numbers sufficient to garner prices that reward them for producing quality cattle
* Increased consistency and predictability for the buyers of our cattle
* A higher quality product for our consumers
 
Consignors Must:
 
* Be able to verify at least 50% Hereford influence
 
* Tag their animals with an American Hereford Association EID tag
 
* Deliver healthy, sound and marketable cattle
 
* Have polled or dehorned cattle
 
* Wean and bunk broke for at least 45 days
 
* Deworm all cattle
 
* Castrate bull (knife recommended)
 
* Guarantee heifers to be open
 
 
Health Requirements:
 
* Weaned at least 45 days
 
* Bunk broke
 
* Polled or dehorned
 
* Vaccinated and boostered for IBR, BVD, BRSV, P13 and Blackleg (the viral booster must be modified live)
 
* Dewormed with the time window

 

 

Sale Management:

 

* Consignor fees will be $3.25/head for the CHB ear tag and a $4.00/head consignment fee to the KHA for advertising and promotion

  (the $4 KHA fee does not have to be prepaid and can be deducted from sale bill)

 

* Normal stockyard commission will apply

 

* Cattle will be sorted into 50 pound increment pans for four breed sorts: Hereford, Red Cross, Black Cross, Hereford Influence

 

* Sale management will review the sorted and graded cattle and may combine some pens to make load lots

 

* All cattle will be graded by Ky. Dept. of Ag. graders and off or #2 cattle will be penned seperately

 

 Important Dates:

 

* Ownership deadline: August 27, 2010

 

* Tag order deadline: September 14, 2010

  (call association representitive)

 

* Weaning deadline: September 12, 2010

 

* Vaccination window: July 30 - October 12

 

* Deworming window: After August 22, 2010

 

* Delivery time: Noon October 25th to

Noon October 26th (call the yards to schedule delivery times)
